International Youth Exchange

IMG_0015 Taites Farewell.JPG

The Rotary Club of Nowra has been hosting international exchange students for the last 25 years, in fact, the current President was an exchange student to New Zealand in 1985!

Youth exchange gives students from Australia and overseas the opportunity to live in another country for twelve months, hosted by Rotarians, attending school, and learning what its like to live in another country and culture. The experience gained is amazing, as is the confidence gained by these young people as they learn to become independant young adults.

Our current outbound student, Taite, left Australia for Switzerland in January 2010 and will return 2011.  At the minute we have no inbound student but are co hosting with South Nowra Rotary.

In February Taite reported that he was "missing his greens and aussie fruit, and said that it is very very cold. Everything appears a different shade of grey...."  Welcome to a European winter, mate!
