South Nowra Rotary Club

rotary_wheel_300.jpgThe Rotary Club of South Nowra was chartered on 10 June 1978, having been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nowra. The Charter President was Bill Thompson and to his credit, Bill was elected President again in the 30th year of the club 2008-09.

The club meets on Mondays - 6.00pm for 6.30pm at the Shoreline Restaurant (Parkhaven Motor Inn) cnr Kinghorne and Douglas Street Nowra.

The South Nowra club consists of 33 male and female members across a wide variety of vocations and interests. Each contributes their time and effort to achieve the club goals.

The  2010-2011 Board is led by John Armstrong. He follows Michael Temby, the 2009-2010 club President.

In the 2009-2010 Rotary Year, the club made donations of over $22,500. This includes:

  • $6000 to local school student and leadership programs and Shoalhaven organisations;
  • $1750 to the Shoalhaven Linear Accelerator ( Cancer Treatment Centre) and $2250 to the Shepherd Centre (Treating profoundly deaf chidren);
  • $5350 to The Rotary Foundation ( heath and humanitarian programs and the Polio Eradication Campaign); 
  • $3200 to international aid programs, including Shelterbox; and
  • $2500 to medical aid programs Mercy Ships, Australian Rotary Health and Birthing Kits.

The club supported many young students in the local high schools to attend leadership training, education courses and camps in the various youth programs of Rotary.
